Miracles

23 08 2009

EmilyChris79There are many types of photographs of pregnant women—artistic, simplicity, and elegant, but overall, fun. Many women today are opting nude pregnancy photos because we are the generation that appreciates our body. Some nude pregnancy photographs show fabulous in black & white and/or sepia.

If one wants to have more fun with the pictures bring the father of the baby, some men may be reluctant of being photographed, but the beauty of the photograph will be the two makers of something miraculous and beautiful.

When I see pregnant women, I think they are so beautiful, carrying another human inside of them which was made between two people who love each other dearly. It is always said that pregnant women glow, and they do!!! They glow with the excitement of love with something amazing.

*For your comfort and posing ability, we at Jean Hall Photography, recommend that you should not pass beyond 8 months.*

Forever and Always

21 08 2009

_MG_4633Every girl dreams about her wedding. No matter the age, culture or how long a couple has been together. A girl is allowed to have her wedding day. Whether it be a big ceremony or a quick trip to Las Vegas, every wedding is beautiful in its own unique way, just like the bride.

I love weddings, it doesn’t matter if it’s on TV or I go to a wedding. To me weddings are a great way to see a couple celebrate their love for one another. So, here is a little 4-1-1 on wedding history:

The word “wedding” means, literally, the payment of a bride for the purpose of breeding. This is where we get the bride’s father “giving her away”, so that this payment is unnecessary.

“Tying the knot” refers to Roman times when there was a bridal girdle in which there were many knots tied into. On the wedding night the groom had the task of untying his bride, much like a present.

The wearing of the wedding ring prior to the 5th century was on the index finger. Afterward it was thought that the third finger led directly to the heart, and this new “vein of love” was established and wedding rings were then traditionally put on that finger during the ceremony.

Kissing the bride, the sealing of the wedding ceremony is believed to have derived from the “exchange of spirits” (i.e. the kiss, exchange of fluids) to share the soul with the new spouse. This sharing of souls, bonds the couple.

The bridal bouquet was originally made with a collection of garlic and other fragrant herbs to ward off evil spirits. The tossing of the bridal bouquet after the wedding ceremony derives from ancient times of guests tearing the bride’s dress for a piece of good luck, this “tossing of the bouquet” was meant to give guests a souvenir without having them tear at the dress for it, thus preserving her dress._MG_4639

Everyone’s heard it. Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed Something Blue. This started in Europe and each section represents something different. “Something Old” is supposed to show two single people taking steps to be a married couple. “Something New” is supposed to represent the transition from childhood to adulthood. “Something Borrowed” is supposed to be from a happily married couple to insure the new couple has just as much happiness. “Something Blue” comes from the border color of bridal dresses in ancient Israel, showing purity.

A wedding is where a couple shows their love for one another, and the wedding should be infused by the couple’s personality, not the personality a couple should have or what they see in magazines. It should be their real, honest style that defines who they are as a couple and who they are as individuals.

So why not and cherish your wedding with beautiful pictures that a couple will see and treasure for as long as they both shall live?

Plan your special day. Love it. Enjoy it.

A New Photographer On The Block

27 07 2009

vanessaAt first photography was just a hobby for Jean Hall, soon though, it was great passion. When chefs or actors take great enthusiasm with their dream job, it’s the same with Jean; a cliché of a story but nonetheless, very true.

When Jean wanted to make a career out of photography, she went back to school at New York Institute of Photography in 2005. Photography is an extension of art for Jean, creating a 2-dimensional feel, she likes to take pictures of landscapes, animals and nature as well; but, she prefers to photograph people, although a challenge for other photographers, Jean likes to defy the mood the person gives off, allowing the lighting to help create the perfect pictures, also, she likes the challenge of dynamics to be able to show the personality of the person through the lens.

When Jean takes a picture, it’s more than using props, backdrops and lights to take a picture, but also about the moment, and when you set foot in the studio, the moment is about you, and you are the star. It’s a place where people feel safe, fun, and imaginative and in that moment, a dynamic is created between you and the photographer.

I’ve been told that since I was little I would pose for a camera–without film. Of course now that I’m 19 and look back at how crazy of a kid I was, I cringe in the horror of my attitude. Funny thing though, I remember bits and pieces from my memory of sitting in a chair with a hat and crossing my legs with baby powder dusted over my neck ( I have pictures that have not yet been shredded). Oh the dreadfulness. Jean first photographed me when I was 15, a sophomore in North Medford high school with braces and adolescent acne and to top it off, braces. Jean misplaced the pictures, and with my self-consciousness, is glad of it, lol. However, nine months ago I went back and got some pictures taken. The results were amazing, playing dress up with a red dress and black stilettos turned out to be a wonderful product. The studio’s motto is: You are beautiful. And it is true.

I may be no Tyra Banks or have yet to be a winner on America’s Next top Model, but being one of the first to be pictured by a local photographer, whose business is booming, is astounding.
